If you use Chrome on an Android phone or tablet, or on an iPhone or iPad, you might want to consider using it on a laptop or Mac as well. Google's Chrome browser is not preinstalled on your Mac. You'll need to download it, which means you'll need to open a different web browser to get to Google's site and get it. Ironic, isn't it?

  • Open Safari or another web browser on your Mac.
  • Go to

  • If the download didn't start, click Download Chrome in the corner of the screen.
  • Click Accept and Install and wait for the download to complete.
  • Once Chrome has finished downloading, your Mac's downloads folder will return to the dock.
  • Go to download and double-click on the file named googlechrome.dmg.
  • This will open the disk image. In the pop-up window, drag the Google Chrome icon toward the application folder.
  • And it is done! Chrome is now installed on your Mac.

When you first start Chrome, your Mac will ask if you want to open the app. Click Open and make sure you're signed in to your Google account. Set Chrome as your default browser when prompted.
